For the past year and a half, I've had pain in my lower back and left hip. I had tried physical therapy, meditation, CBD creams, and Tylenol, without major success. Because there's been a lot written about the connection between emotions and the physical body, I decided to consider if my pain was related to something emotional. I started asking myself questions: Am I angry about something? What do I have a sense of loss over? Who am I blaming?
I began to suspect one source of my physical pain. In late 2024, without warning or explanation, my main consulting work started drastically slowing down and in a short period of time I had no income. I was put in a very precarious financial situation, which has been ongoing and is scary and destabilizing. The loss was extra confusing since I had continually been told that I was doing a great job, and how much I was appreciated. Besides the financial hit, there was an emotional one where I felt powerless, shame, depression, grief, and anger. These emotions hit particularly hard since I loved the work and the people I worked with.
I started journaling about my feelings. From the journaling, I decided to write a letter to the individual I felt most responsible for my anger and hurt. I wrote to them about how I felt that I was treated unprofessionally and was taken advantage of; it was a detailed letter and a thorough venting. In the final paragraph I asked Source to Release me from carrying this resentment and anger. I handed my negative emotions over to the universe and I then burned the letter.
My experience may be anecdotal, but my physical pain has subsided. My rumination over the situation has become less frequent and I’ve started to feel a sense of room for new and beneficial energy to enter my life. And, I know I want to keep Release top of mind since there are plenty of things to blame, judge, etc. When I’m experiencing physical pain or discomfort, in addition to physiological causes, I also look to my emotions. The more awareness I have of my emotions and their sources, the more success I have with feeling better. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying that resentment is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die. I think that holding onto grievance or continually reliving an offense just keeps that negative energy active in the body where it may start to cause physical pain (maybe even long-term illness), or keep us from providing an opening for goodness in all its forms.
My Guides said this about Release:
"Much Release is needed for your next state of being, for many energies that do not support transition have built up over time and manifested into physical form. As such, Release will bring about timely dissolution of some structures and physical manifestations that no longer serve the next needed vibration. Be the witnesses and creators you are here to be and evolve through dissolution of separation and the embrace of oneness. For blame, grievance, judgment are symptoms of a belief in separation and separation is an illusion."
Based on this message from my Guides, I think Release could be powerful on a larger scale. We can Release resentment, anger, or blame towards whomever or whatever we feel is hurting us, our community, our country, our Earth home. We can Release grievances and judgment to make room for beneficial energies and provide an opening for goodness.
I’ve created a symbol for Release, which you can use as a reminder to choose to let go of unsupportive energies and make room for beneficial ones. You can screenshot this and make a print or digital version, or you can purchase an archival quality print here. Below is an intention message for the Release symbol that I'll use with this practice.

Dear Source: I rejoice in the Divine Light that is now available through the Release of regret, resentment, blame, judgment, and any other energies that no longer serve the highest good of myself, my loved ones, my community, and our Earth home. I fully embrace with an open heart all the miracles granted through this Release. And so, it is.
Wishing you many blessings, with love,
Patricia
